Kevin James Breaux

Biography

Kevin James Breaux is an award-winning artist and author. He grew up in Hatboro, PA, but moved to the Portland, OR suburbs in 2009. He spent years in art school dreaming of becoming a professional comic book artist so that he could see his creations come to life in pen & ink. It was not until his final year at Temple University that he realized writing could fulfill that dream.

Kevin's career as a writer began in 2007 when his first short story sold for $50. His first move, after celebrating the sale, was to join the Horror Writers Association (HWA). His debut novel SOUL BORN, an epic fantasy, was published by Dark Quest Books in 2010 and the book won First Place in the Sci-fi & Fantasy category of the P&E Reader’s Poll. Kevin is experienced with on-line social communities and has a growing fan base on Goodreads, Twitter and Facebook. As a skilled graphic artist he has created magazine print ads and YouTube book trailers to support his book. Kevin also maintains two active blogs that contain his interviews, articles and guests posts published on the web.

Kevin enjoys writing e-stories to provide incentives for readers of his works. He is a contributing writer for Suspense Magazine with three articles printed.

Writing is his business.

 

Kevin is currently seeking a literary agent.

 

 

Quick Facts

 

Constantly creating, Kevin sees the books he writes like movies in his head. He just has to flesh them out.

Kevin has been writing for over a dozen years. Starting his journey in 1998.

In 2004 he was chosen to represent Jenkintown, Pennsylvania Barnes and Nobles on New Writers Night.

Kevin is a big a G.I. JOE fan. (old comics+cartoons) He would love to write a JOE comic or short story.

Kevin is a published artist with works in Zombie CSU and THEY BITE! He has also done advertisement and merchandise design work for the first X-Men movie.

In 2009, Kevin drove across country, moving from PA to OR. He did not want to fly his dogs. (2 Shar Peis)

In 2011, Kevin is writing 3 books.

Kevin has been playing video games since Atari 2600. He is on XBL as BRO2099.

As a fan of Anime, Kevin would love to adapt an existing series to book. Or write a Manga title some day.

Often lists his favorite video game ever as Nobunaga's Ambition for NES or Final Fantasy Tactics for PSX, but Dragon Age: Origins might be beating it now. (or SKYRIM)

Favorite TV show no one seems to know about: MUTANT X.

Favorite Star Trek series: Deep Space Nine.

Won an eight hour, all night, game of Secret Mission RISK back in the mid 90s. (and is still proud of it)

One of his favorite movies is BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF, and he saw it in the theater when it was released.

Longest book written: FLESH ENDED - its final draft before editing was just under 180,000 words. After a few re-reads it dropped to 178,000.

In 2012, Kevin completed his 5th book. He will probably finish a 6th soon after.

Still has all his old D&D hardbound manuals from the early 80s.

Kevin has reoccurring dreams about tending to snakes... and the food store. Good thing he lucid dreams.
